Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical - Neuro Registered Nurse
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical Neuro (32 beds)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- No on-call required
- Floating to similar units as needed
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
- Charting system: Epic
- Rapid response team activation involved
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience
- At least 1 year of recent specialty experience required
- Unit accepts first-time travel nurses (prior travel experience not required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted; medical exemptions require approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if positive)
- Immunizations or titers required for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Skills checklist and work history verification (7 years) required annually
Additional Notes
- Orientation includes fingerprinting and EPIC training; work cannot begin until fingerprint clearance is received (1-3 business days)
- No call responsibilities
- Floating to like units may be required
- Unit has 32 beds and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
