Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Rochester, New York

Job Details

Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
Patient Ratios:
- Day/Evening: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
- Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
Support Staff: Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
Phlebotomy: In-house team performs peripheral lab draws; nursing responsible for PICC and central lines.
Floating: Required to float within scope to MS, ICU, and ED units.
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
Block Scheduling: May be accommodated but not guaranteed.
Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles.
Pending License: Not accepted.
On-call: Not required.
Scrub Color: Any combination of navy and white.
Charting System: Epic (preferred).
Special Equipment: Hoyer lifts.
Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac and stroke patients.
Special Skills Required:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Peripheral line care/management
- Oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions

Experience & Certifications

Required Years of Experience: 1 year in specialty
First-time Travelers: Accepted
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted, as required by unit
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (as required by unit)
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
Education verification and foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations
Health documents (must be completed within 5 days of contract signing):
- Physical exam (within 1 year)
- Fit mask test (annual)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Immunizations: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (titers or vaccines as required)
- Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
- Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
References: 2 references within 3 years (required for Aya candidates)

State-Specific Requirements (New York)

NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start for certain care areas
Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search for Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, and LTC units (if applicable)

NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start

This position offers a dynamic environment with diverse patient populations and requires flexibility to float between units. Ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing who are comfortable with cardiac and stroke patient care and have the required certifications.
