Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT Accepted)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Shift: 3x12 hour nights or 4x12 hour shifts (1800-0630)
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Respiratory Therapy)
• First-timers Accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• On-call: Required as needed
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• License: Active Illinois license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
• Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

Required Clinical Experience & Skills

• Work Settings: Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department
• Airway Management:

  • Endotracheal tube suctioning
  • Extubation
  • Intubation assist
  • Nasal airway placement and suctioning
  • Oral airway placement and suctioning
  • Sputum specimen collection
  • Tracheostomy suctioning
• Nebulizer Skills: Handheld, T-Piece, Trach collar
• Oxygen Therapy: Bag and mask, ET tube, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), T-Piece, Trach collar, Venturi masks
• Ventilator Management: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience required
• Preferred Experience: Teaching hospital, community hospital, Level I and II trauma center experience

Additional Requirements

• Must work every other weekend and be available for on-call shifts as needed
• Must be able to float within scope of practice
• Physical exam required within one year of start
• Drug screening (9-panel) required within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documentation required (including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination or approved exemption)
• Background checks and state-specific searches required within 30 days of start
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Badge photo required prior to start
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted

This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity, trauma center environment and have Cerner EMR experience.
