Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry 4/5 Lied unit (20-bed general medical surgical and telemetry unit)
- Patient types include:
- Total Knee and Hip replacements
- Complicated orthopedic cases
- Pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, psychiatric illnesses
Shift & Ratios
- 36 or 48-hour shift options
- Ratios:
- Days: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6 (can rarely be 1:7)
- 5th floor complex discharges may have 1:10 at night (weekly assessments with support staff)
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 in a 4-week period
- Days: Saturday and Sunday
- Nights: Friday and Saturday night
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Telemetry experience
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of prior Telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Must be able to float within scope to various units (including Bellevue campus)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip experience required on all floors
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- CPI and NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Pending license accepted but must be in hand before start (booking 6 weeks out if not)
- State RN license verification and primary source verification required
Facility & Work Environment
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking available with permit or daily rates
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start (includes extensive checks and must be updated annually)
- SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
- Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, annual PPD or TB clearance
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
Restrictions & Notes
- Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Up to two weeks of Return to Origin (RTO) permitted with prior approval
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs comfortable with complex patient care in a large academic medical center setting.
