Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Inpatient Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse - WOCN)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Start Date: January 26, 2026
Shift: Days, Monday to Friday, 5x8 hours (08:00 - 16:30)
Schedule: Block schedule, no weekends required, holidays as scheduled
On-call: Not required
Floating: May be required to float within the specialty to downtown campus if needed
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN)
- Required Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required
- Patient Age Range: All age groups
- Patient Diagnoses: Pressure injuries, chronic/acute wounds, ostomies
- Average Patient Volume: Approximately 15 patients per day
- Team: Wound care team rounds on 4 to 5 units daily
Licenses & Certifications Required
- Maryland RN State License
- Wound Care Certification (WCC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- WOCN certification preferred (not mandatory)
Additional Certifications (as applicable)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Chemotherapy certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) - as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - if working with stroke patients or in relevant units
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Government Issued Photo ID
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Background Check (7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification for highest level of education
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Photo for badge (passport style with solid white/beige background)
- Confidentiality Agreement and Dress Code acknowledgment
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Flu Vaccine or Medical/Religious Exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80% or higher, excluding some roles)
Additional Notes
- Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start
- Previous 5 years of work history verification required (attestation accepted)
- Floating may be required within specialty units
- Candidate must complete various facility-specific documents and training prior to start, including Epic Portfolio Training Test Out if applicable
This position offers a focused specialty role in wound care nursing with a supportive team environment and a structured day shift schedule. It is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of wound care experience and those new to travel nursing with strong skills.
