Job Details
- Specialty: MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (some 40-hour options)
- Floating: Required within MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity settings, and ED (Emergency Department)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 (possible 1:6) in ED
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule (may vary by unit)
- On-call: Not required
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
- Pending License: Accepted (NM license can pend at time of submission)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 10 days require approval
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours guaranteed; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC, RQI not accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC, RQI not accepted
- NIH Stroke Certification
- IV Starts and Telemetry skills required
Additional Requirements & Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required with 80% overall and 100% on Lethal Arrhythmia section; two attempts allowed)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) through Relias required for specific units
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification may be required depending on unit
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Fit Mask test required within 1 year (specific mask types accepted)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (negative result required)
- Flu vaccination required year-round with exemptions accepted
- COVID vaccination no longer required but reporting still necessary
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Skills checklist and work history verification required (minimum 3 years work history verified)
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- NURSYS license verification required
- State license must be original NM license with 3D seal for radiology areas (if applicable)
Work Environment & Notes
- Facility operates at over 100% capacity
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: No fee
- No locals accepted within 75 miles radius
- Floating expected to multiple units within skillset
- Facility allows calling off up to 3 times during assignment
- Candidates must have a valid non-local driver’s license (identification cards not accepted)
- Location is not near public transportation
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of MS/Tele experience who are comfortable floating across units and working in a high-capacity, fast-paced hospital environment. First-time travelers are welcome, and pending NM licenses are accepted. Certification and competency exams are mandatory, and compliance with background checks and health documentation is required.
