Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Pediatrics)
Location: Helena, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1+ year of behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience with pediatric patients
- Experience in milieu management
- Must be comfortable working night shifts
- Work schedule includes every other weekend
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Patient population primarily includes children and adolescents with conditions such as suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders

- 82-bed children’s hospital
- Operates 24/7
Certifications & Licenses Required
- CPR (BLS and First Aid): BLS must be AHA or ARC certified; First Aid must be in-person (virtual not accepted)
- ACLS: Required based on unit description (AHA or ARC)
- PALS: Required based on unit description (AHA or ARC)
- State Nursing License: Primary source verification required prior to start
- National Certification/Verification: Required prior to start and upon expiration
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Preferred; facility will provide training if candidate does not have it
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within required timeframes)
- TB questionnaire (updated annually if applicable)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Training Safety Manual (updated annually)
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to orientation (approx. 8-12 hours)
- Two professional references within the last 3 years
- Skills checklist required
