Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) Manager - Med Surg + ICU

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Role: RN Manager (Med Surg) + ICU
  • Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month (every other weekend)
  • Call Requirements: Not specified
  • RTO (Request Time Off):
    • Maximum 5 days total, no more than 2 consecutive days
    • No RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
  • Floating: Mandatory float facility; all staff must float within scope as needed
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Years of Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years nursing experience in an acute care setting
    • Plus 3 years intensive care experience as a Nurse Supervisor and/or Nurse Manager
  • Education: BSN required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification

Licensure & Location

  • Must live within 75 miles of the facility (locals preferred)
  • Pending license not accepted

Facility & Work Environment

  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Adjacent parking garage, approximately 2-3 minute walk to hospital entrance

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background Check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Physical Exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 12 months, updated annually)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer, booster if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, booster if low titer)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology testing as required
