Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Med Surg)

Location: Utica, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Med Surg unit with occasional stroke patients
Experience needed with stroke patients and occasional Peritoneal Dialysis patients
Med/Surg nurse-to-patient ratio:
- Days: 1:5-6
- Nights: 1:6-7

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse license in New York
Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg specialty
BLS certification
NIH Stroke Certification
EPIC experience
Experience with stroke patients and Peritoneal Dialysis patients

Certifications & Training

ACLS (AHA strongly preferred)
BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York requirement)

Competencies

Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor Med/Surg Unit; expires every 3 years)
Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)

Health & Background Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start
Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (with specific documentation requirements)
Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, or documented history)
9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination

Additional Information

Only one holiday off allowed during contract
Total time off (RTO) 7 days or less
Local candidates accepted within 75-mile radius
Required to complete facility-specific online modules prior to first shift
Must provide a government-issued photo ID and emergency contact form prior to start
Background checks and education verifications required as per standard healthcare travel contract policies
