Job Opportunity: Medical Lab Technician (Laboratory)

Location: Covington, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work alternating shifts: 7 days on, 7 days off (Wednesday night to Tuesday night)
• Responsibilities include Core Lab and Blood Bank duties
• Must be comfortable with Trauma/Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP) blood bank
• Experience with Epic system preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Weekend work required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Lab Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Certification by AMT, ASCP, AAB, or NCA

Additional Requirements

• Compliance with background checks and verifications (including Social Security trace, sex offender, federal checks)
• Required health documents and immunizations including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions accepted
• Must comply with facility-specific policies including employee appearance and flu declination forms
• Competency exams and annual updates as required by the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic electronic health record experience
• Trauma Level II experience

• Prior travel experience is explicitly required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
