Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (13 interpreted as weeks)
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Patient Population: Cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Post cardiac Cath

Job Description

• Floating required as needed, with potential to float every shift
• Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts (approximately every other weekend)
• Must participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or disasters
• Unit monitors cardiac patients with cardiac drips such as Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.
• Special procedures include sheath pulls, TR Bands, Femstop
• Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Not provided (Navy color recommended)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Stepdown, DOU (Direct Observation Unit), and Intermediate Care
• Pre/Post Cath Lab experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Proficient in interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Sheath removal experience
• Experience accessing ports and administering blood products
• Central line and PICC line care management experience
• Experience titrating Diltiazem and Amiodarone drips

Compliance & Requirements

• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry checks required within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (30 days if past positive TB)
• Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training acceptable)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
• Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Must complete facility-specific orientation modules and compliance training (including medication safety, confidentiality, hospital policies, and non-Novant health worker orientation)
• Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with a minimum score of 82% within 72 hours of assignment start (three attempts allowed)

Additional Notes

• RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
• Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract as needed
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel and acute care positions

Patient Care Environment

• Cardiac telemetry unit with a ratio of 1:6-7 patients
• Care for patients with complex cardiac conditions requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
