Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Description

• Procedural Nurse for Hybrid OR (Neuro)
• Call required every 3rd weekend
• Willing to train candidates for the position
• Candidates with strong Cath lab, IR, or procedural work history and strong neuro experience preferred

Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Patient monitoring and neurological assessment
• Skilled in intraoperative neuromonitoring interpretation, anesthesia effects on neuro status, and early detection of stroke, bleed, or seizure risks
• Rapid patient preparation and setup of hybrid OR/angio suite, including sterile setup of endovascular trays and devices (e.g., stent retrievers, aspiration catheters)
• Post-op endovascular care including sheath removals and management of auto puncture sites
• Support neuro-endovascular interventions

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Indiana (permanent or compact)
• No temporary licenses accepted

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA required, must be current or updated prior to start
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required, must be current or updated prior to start
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as applicable by specialty
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable by specialty
• NIH Stroke Certification – required annually and must be current prior to start

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Interventional Radiology / Neuro procedural nursing
• Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but candidates should have strong neuro and procedural experience; willingness to train candidates indicates some flexibility

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Physical exam within 1 year, cleared to work with no restrictions and free of communicable diseases
• Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year (or appropriate follow-up if positive)
• Drug testing (10 panel) within 3 weeks of start
• Fit mask test (N95 respirator) prior to start
• COVID-19 vaccination required (2 doses Moderna/Pfizer or 1 dose J&J) or approved medical/religious exemption
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Color blind exam required (online acceptable)

Competency Exams & Testing

• Pass/fail testing on medication administration and EKG/dysrhythmia required on first day of orientation
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required annually
• Advanced EKG competency exam required for Neuro IMCU and related units, with remediation process if needed
• Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) and OSHA mandatory training required annually

• Transcript or diploma of highest education required prior to start
• Emergency contact form required for all staff
• Various facility-specific study guides and acknowledgements required prior to or on first day of orientation (e.g., medication administration, pediatric medication, EKG challenge)
