Job Opportunity: Cytotechnologist (Cyto Tech) - Travel/Contract

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • No call and no weekends

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Evaluate microscopic cell preparations to identify abnormalities
  • Prepare cell samples and specimens for diagnosis
  • Maintain patient follow-up files with accurate records of procedures and results
  • Enter test results and perform quality control to ensure accurate reporting
  • Consult with physicians and other departments to interpret test results and patient protocols

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate level education required
  • CT (ASCP) certification or equivalent required
  • 6 months to 1 year relevant experience required (use 1 year as the required experience)

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • State license verification as applicable (Virginia license requirements apply)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider card required
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit/job description (verify during onboarding)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check including criminal, education, and DMV records
  • Drug testing within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (immune titer or vaccines)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
    • COVID vaccination documentation or declination

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (one current year, one within last 2 years) from supervisors or equivalent
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (minimum 2 years work history)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance modules prior to start
  • Fit mask (N95) testing required unless exempted by role
  • Annual TB questionnaire if history of positive TB test

  • No explicit prior travel experience required for this position
