Job Description
- Floating is required for most positions.
- Must be willing to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical units as needed.
- Two supervisory references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager.
- Charge RN reference acceptable for one of the references.
- Resume or employment application required.
Certifications & Competencies Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for NICU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score required)
- Competency Exam (passing score required)
Licensure Verification
- Ohio State or Compact RN license verification required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification for RNs required within 30 days of start.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Fingerprinting (Ohio BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start; must be updated for each new contract.
- Sex offender search, state-specific searches (Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry) required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- References: 2 professional references required (no peer references).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (must be free of communicable diseases) within 1 year of start.
- N95 Fit Testing required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually.
- TDAP vaccine required within 10 years of start (after age 11).
- TB testing options: 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
- Immunizations required or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination accepted if negative/equivocal titer)
- Varicella
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist required; updated annually.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Affiliating Health Record must be completed.
- Infection Control Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Fingerprint screening questions must be completed prior to start.
- Fit test proof of appointment required if testing onsite.
- Various facility-specific documents and attestations required prior to or within 30 days of start.
This position requires flexibility to float across multiple pediatric and adult care units, strong clinical skills, and compliance with extensive background, licensure, and health documentation requirements.
