Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Schedule: Weekends every 3rd weekend, holidays as needed, floating as needed (may float to Emergency Transitional Care Unit - ETCU)
- Unit: Emergency Department (74 beds) at a Level 1 Trauma Center with a 3-bed trauma bay and behavioral health secure unit
- Additional Unit: ETCU (22 beds) with telemetry and negative pressure rooms; provides inpatient-level care for holds and cross-training with ED tasks
- Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Experience Required
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (higher value confirmed)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepting first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Patient Population & Environment
- May care for COVID-19 patients
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) recommended (refer to unit/job description)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) as applicable
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (pass/fail exam required for all RNs except OR and Home Health)
- State License verification (primary source)
- NURSYS Verification for RN license
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty (Emergency Department/Trauma)
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts required
- Employment application and recent resume required
- Two professional references within 3 years required
- Skills checklist required annually
- Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season; medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation (declinations not accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
- Respiratory Safety clearance required within 1 year, renewed annually

- Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules prior to start (PC/laptop only)
- New Hire Orientation required by end of first day
Additional Notes
- Blocked schedules are not approved
- No call requirements
- Floating may include Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU)
- Candidate will be reviewed by clinical team for fit before manager interview
- Tobacco and fragrance-free environment; candidates should be notified prior to submission
