Job Opportunity: Dietitian (Travel/Contract)
Location: Sacramento, California
Facility: UC Davis Medical Center
Position Details
- Specialty: Dietary Services (Dietitian)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (5x8's)
- Floating: Required
- Weekend Coverage: Rotates with inpatient adult team approximately every 2 months or as needed
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of work experience, including at least 2 years in acute care
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification required
Required Skills & Clinical Knowledge
- Enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Adult outpatient/clinic experience
- Acute myocardial infarction (MI)
- Elevated cholesterol/triglycerides
- Heart failure
- Diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Driver’s License/State ID: Valid copy required urgently for system access
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, all counties/states lived/worked, national sex offender, nationwide criminal search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification: Required for certain allied specialties; not required for RDs
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or RQI AHA only
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or RQI AHA only
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) if applicable
- Chemotherapy certification if applicable (issued within past 2 years)
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam cleared within one year of start
- Fit testing for N95 masks within one year of start (N95 3M 1860, 1870+, or 8210 with face shield; PAPR acceptable if fit test fails)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within past 10 years (declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (or documented positive with chest X-ray and questionnaire)
- TB questionnaire prior to start and updated annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B titer required; declination or series accepted with conditions
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required by November 1
- References: Two clinical references required, including one from most recent or recent employer
- Employment Application: Must cover last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 6 months
- Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required
Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of all UC Davis Learning Management System (LMS) modules prior to start (unless extenuating circumstances)
- Facility-specific orientation modules acknowledgment required before start
- Badge pickup required at Health Administration Offices during business hours before orientation
- Signed confidentiality statement and HIPAA training confirmation required prior to clearance
- Compliance with UC Davis Medical Center policies and procedures
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation must be submitted upfront
- Weekend rotation is generally every 2 months or as needed with inpatient adult team
- Floating to other units may be required
