Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Outpatient Orthopedics focus)

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements & Details

  • Licensure: PA or compact PT license required
  • Experience:
    • 3 years outpatient PT experience preferred
    • First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience
  • Schedule:
    • Monday to Friday
    • Ideally 3 day shifts and 2 night shifts per week (night shifts end by 7 PM)
    • No weekend or holiday requirements
  • Floating: May float to East Stroudsburg Rehab
  • Patient Volume: Average weekly census ~50 visitors
  • Skillset Required: Outpatient Orthopedics
  • Skillset Preferred: Neurology, Hand therapy
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Dress Code: Pewter colored polo top and black/navy khakis
  • On-call: None
  • Certifications: BLS and CPR required

Compliance & Credentialing Requirements

Background Checks

  • Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results required within 90 days of start (full results, all pages)
  • Education verification for highest level of education
  • Pennsylvania State-specific searches (Medicheck, PATCH, Child Abuse Search) within required timeframes

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified required for all clinical staff
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as applicable by unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
  • National Certification/Verification prior to start and upon expiration
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Basic Dysrhythmia exam) - clinical candidates, annual renewal required
  • State License Verification (Primary Source) prior to start and upon expiration
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP) prior to start
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (clinical candidates except certain exceptions)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 months of start
  • Fit test questionnaire and respirator clearance (if applicable)
  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with specific guidelines for positive history)
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive antibody or completed vaccine series; declinations not accepted)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start
  • COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation or approved declination (with masking policy)

Facility Specific Documents

  • Photo for badge (new candidates starting 3/31/2025 and after)
  • Affidavit for provisional employment prior to start
  • COVID and Flu declination forms if applicable

History & Verification

  • Minimum 2 professional references from employment within last 12 months
  • Complete employment application with 7 years of work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days
  • Work history verification (for non-clinical and remote candidates)

Additional Notes

  • Instant background or drug screens are not acceptable
  • Fingerprinting may be completed outside PA but out-of-state fees apply (not reimbursed)
  • Dilute drug screens require observed retest within 24 hours if allowed by state
  • Multiple attempts allowed for competency and pass/fail testing with remediation; failure after attempts may result in contract cancellation
  • Candidate must comply with all credentialing and compliance requirements prior to or shortly after start date to maintain assignment eligibility
