Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in specialty
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: One shift per day (day or night), no shift preference allowed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexibility required
  • Holidays: Working on holidays is required (dates determined by unit needs)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Limited; no more than 3 consecutive days and max 7 days total during the 13-week contract
  • Locals: Candidates residing in Guam are not eligible
  • Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application
  • Passport: Current U.S. passport required (Canadian passports not accepted)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider card required; renewal may be needed before start if expiring within 6 months
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC preferred; renewal may be needed before start if expiring within 6 months
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider card required; renewal may be needed before start if expiring within 6 months
  • Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for ER; must be fully completed before start
  • Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab) - Online course required; initial certification valid 2 years, renewal 1.5 years
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
  • ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Triage Training (including Pediatrics 2.0) - Required prior to start
  • Facility-specific modules including:
    • Pressure Injury Training
    • Alaris IV Pumps
    • Pyxis CareFusion
    • FEMA modules (completed onsite)

Additional Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, including criminal and international searches if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya does)
    • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year; onsite fit testing available if needed
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility form
    • COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver
  • Testing:
    • Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams onsite during orientation; must pass with 80% or higher
  • Work History:
    • Verification of last 10 years of employment required
  • References:
    • 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles

Facility & Work Environment

  • Type: Acute Care, Adult Trauma Level II
  • Beds: 132 staffed beds
  • Charting System: Allscripts/Sunrise
  • Parking: Free (registration and decal required)
  • Scrub Colors: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for scrubs and jackets
  • Overtime: At management discretion, not guaranteed
  • Flight Costs: Not reimbursed; candidates must budget for round-trip airfare
  • Scheduling: Travelers have a 4-day window to switch or find coverage before schedule finalization
  • Additional: Travelers should be prepared to pick up extra shifts as needed due to census

Important Notes

  • Candidates must plan to arrive at least one day before the start date due to long flight times and time zone differences.
  • Travelers will be scheduled through the last day of the contract and should not book return flights before contract completion.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
