Sonographer (General) – Columbia, SC

Job Description
- Provide mobile ultrasound services primarily in nursing homes, home care facilities, prisons, and processing sites within the region.
- Travel by automobile to various locations to perform exams ordered by physicians.
- Use portable sonographic equipment to obtain clinically diagnostic, technically competent images.
- Digitally send ultrasound images to a Radiologist for interpretation.
- Self-dispatch or coordinate with dispatch to manage caseload and respond to urgent communications promptly.
- Verify all physician orders against patient charts before performing exams.
- Confirm patient identity using two identifiers; if patient unable, nurse in charge must verify.
- Do not assist with patient transfers or positioning; facility staff provide support.
- Maintain and care for sonographic equipment and company vehicle.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, peers, supervisors, and clients.
- Attend required meetings and complete daily paperwork and billing per protocol.
- Train other technologists as needed.
- Maintain high ethical standards and self-motivation to improve knowledge and skills.
- Comply with company policies including drug-free workplace, background checks, and professional conduct.
- Must be able to operate smartphones and basic computer functions (e.g., scanning, printing).
Physical Demands
- Lift equipment bag weighing 18-20 pounds into/out of vehicle or wheeled cart.
- Pull wheeled cart with equipment up to 250 feet, requiring 5-10 pounds of force.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- Registered with ARDMS or CCI; ARRT (R.T.(VS)) credentials are also accepted.
- Experience as a Vascular Sonographer.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to provide on demand; subject to periodic checks.
Experience
