Job Summary

Responsible for performing advanced tasks in the sterile processing department of a healthcare facility. This position does not require patient care.

Essential Functions

• Receive used medical instruments and equipment from operating rooms or other departments.
• Load prepared instruments and equipment into sterilizers following prescribed loading patterns and protocols.
• Conduct regular quality checks of instruments, equipment, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with sterilization standards.
• Assist with managing inventory levels, including receiving, inspecting, and restocking sterile supplies.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced sterile processing technicians.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, including experience within the last year.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, lifting (35+ lbs with assistance), carrying (20-35 lbs), balancing, reaching, gross and fine manipulation frequently required.
• Occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
• Rare climbing, crawling, and foot use.
• Constant use of vision (near and far), talking, hearing, and feeling.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Documentation of immunizations including MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) or proof of immunity.
• TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
• Physician health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break >6 months.
• Criminal background checks, CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required prior to onboarding.
• Resume with past 7 years of work experience and 2 professional references required for submission.
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet must be completed for submission.
