Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start date requested: January 20
  • Contract options: Standard 13 weeks or up to 20 weeks
  • Shift options:
    • 4x10 or 4x12 hour shifts, Day or Evening rotations
    • Evening shifts:
      • 4x10: 1 PM – 11 PM
      • 4x12: 11 AM – 11 PM
    • Day shifts:
      • 4x10: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7 AM – 5:30 PM; Wed 9 AM – 7:30 PM
      • 4x12: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7 AM – 7:30 PM; Wed 9 AM – 9:30 PM
  • Weekend scheduling includes 12-hour shifts and shorter shifts during the same week to meet contracted hours
  • Includes 2 weeks of night shifts per contract
  • At least 2 short calls per 4-week schedule, including weekends
  • Must have Level 1 Trauma experience or experience working in high-capacity hospitals

Required Credentials & Compliance

Professional Credentials

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (NBSTSA or NCCT only)
  • MGB Badge Photo (recent color photo, no selfies or filters, plain background)
  • License/Certificate Verification (Primary Source Verification required; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted)
  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
  • Skills Checklist
  • Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form (for initial assignments and extensions)
  • Criminal Background Check (within 45 days prior to start, includes international searches if applicable)
  • Massachusetts CORI background check (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Education Verification (highest level of education achieved)
  • SSN Trace (past 7 years addresses/aliases)
  • National Sex Offender Check (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Exclusion Checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth & NH Medicaid lists, updated annually)

Personal Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Fit Test for N95 respirator (within 365 days of start, updated annually; no religious exemptions)
  • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 – April 30; no exemptions)
  • TB Test (skin test or blood test within 3 months of start, updated if >6 month break)
  • Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 365 days of start, updated if >6 month break)
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)

Optional / Preferred

  • Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity (strongly preferred)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
  • Positive PPD with negative chest X-ray documentation (if applicable)
  • TB Symptom Survey (if positive PPD)

Housing in Boston is on the high side You have to pay for parking at the hospital (not cheap) Traffic to and around hospital can be pretty bad
