Travel RN Medical/Surgical Job - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Position Details

• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric medical/surgical patients (ages 18 to 60+)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Staffing Model: Variable staffing including RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs)
• RN Role: Full responsibility for patients on each team
• Contract Length: 12 weeks

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Must be AHA certified
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Must be AHA certified
• Nursys Verification - Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation
• Current Nursing License - Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Ascension Medical Surgical Exam - Required prior to start; minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts
• Ascension Color Vision Test - Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA) - Completed within a year of start, updated yearly, minimum 80% score
• NIH Certification - Updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group
• Ascension EKG Exam - Passing score of at least 80%, max 2 attempts

• Ascension Cerner Test-Out
• MMR Vaccination - Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
• Fit Test - Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, updated annually
• Hepatitis B Vaccination - Documentation of series completion or signed declination
• Influenza Vaccine - Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
• Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire - Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, chest x-ray within a year, and completed TB questionnaire
• Health Statement - Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Driver’s License/State ID - Must be current and valid; address must match licensing requirements
• 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) - Required within 30 days prior to start
• Varicella Vaccination - Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
• Tdap Vaccination - Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted
• 12 Panel Drug Screen - Within 30 days prior to start; must include all 12 drugs tested with MRO review if applicable

• Two Professional References - Completed prior to first assignment
• Criminal Background Check - Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
• EPLS Check - Within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
• Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually
• Education Verification - Completed within 90 days of start; must match clinical work
• Confirmation of Assignment - Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions
• Employment Verification - Third-party verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days

Additional Notes

• Flu season mask policy: Flu season runs October 1 through March 31. Exemptions or declinations for the flu vaccine are accepted, but the candidate must wear a mask at all times during this period.
• All required exams and certifications must be completed prior to start or as specified.
• Some onboarding requirements and tests are specific to the Ascension system and must be completed accordingly.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable working in a variable staffing environment with adult and geriatric patients.
