Travel RN Medical/Surgical - Waco, Texas

Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with healthcare team members.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
  • Nursys Verification - Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require FACIS Questionnaire.
  • License/Certificate Verification - Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Ascension Specialty Exam - Completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years; minimum 80% passing score.
  • Ascension Color Vision Test - Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies - Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score.
  • NIH Certification - Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • Ascension EKG Exam - New edition as of Dec 1, 2023; passing score of at least 80% required.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation - Completed pre-hire.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding - Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip - Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out - Epic test results and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • MMR Vaccination - Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test - Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination - Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine - Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Positive PPD/Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire - Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within a year, and TB questionnaire.
  • Health Statement - Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Driver's License/State ID - Must be current and match address on file; compact license rules apply.
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) - Within 1 year and 30 days of start; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • Varicella Vaccination - Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap Vaccination - Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen - Within 30 days prior to start; includes 12 specified drugs; MRO review required.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check - Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) - Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Ascension Education Verification - Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Employment Verification - Third-party employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment - Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions.
  • Ascension 2 Professional References - At least two professional references completed prior to first assignment.

Optional Credentials

  • Ascension Badge Photo - Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations.
  • Ascension Exit Survey - Completed within 72 hours after assignment.
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist - Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation - Post-assignment evaluation.
  • Ascension Name Change Document - Legal documentation of name change.

This position requires a comprehensive set of certifications, verifications, and health screenings to ensure compliance with healthcare standards and facility policies. Candidates must be prepared to complete all required onboarding and credentialing processes prior to assignment start.
