Respiratory Therapist Position

Location: Johnson City, New York
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, staff, and affiliated community groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed
• Perform aerosol therapy, CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy, incentive spirometry, M.D.I. therapy, suctioning, and extubation
• Ensure oxygen tank safety and administer oxygen therapy on approved devices
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms
• Perform cough assist/vest therapy
• Manage high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and alarms
• Conduct pulmonary function screening and fit testing (with Employee Health)
• Perform pulse oximetry, adult/pediatric EKG, and BLS life support (adult, pediatric, neonatal)
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, including quality control
• Manage patient healthcare information systems and medication administration/dispensing programs
• Verify physician orders and accurately record/report procedure results
• Maintain files and records per department policy
• Assist in departmental in-service programs and perform other assigned duties

• Up to 3 years of experience

• Technical expertise

Preferred Experience

• At least 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Education Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
• BLS and ACLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA)
