Job Summary

A professional nurse accountable for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The role includes mentoring and precepting staff while ensuring patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

• Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition; make sound independent decisions.
• Development & Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care; review and revise as needed. Collaborate with patient/family and interdisciplinary services; use resources appropriately.
• Evaluation: Monitor and document patient response to clinical interventions.
• Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education tailored to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor; encourage teamwork; identify and communicate opportunities for improvement; participate in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts; comply with regulatory standards; engage in Practice Governance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of acute care RN experience.
