Contract Length

  • Approximately 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years RN experience
  • Minimum 2 years Telemetry and Medical-Surgical experience
  • Prior travel experience required (at least 1 year or completion of prior travel contracts)

Licenses & Certifications

  • New York State RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Preferred Skills

  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Ventilator experience
  • EPIC electronic health record system experience (highly preferred)

Job Description Summary

As a Registered Professional Nurse in Telemetry, you will provide safe, competent, and quality care to patients using evidence-based nursing practices. Your role includes:

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care based on nursing theory, research, and organizational standards
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Prioritize patient care activities including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning

Patient Experience

  • Facilitate relationship-centered care practices such as bedside shift reports and purposeful hourly rounding
  • Respect patient values, preferences, and cultural diversity
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice activities
  • Follow institutional protocols to maintain a safe environment
  • Document nursing care accurately to support quality initiatives

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned
  • Coordinate supply and staffing needs with nursing leadership
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts

Professional Development

  • Support clinical colleagues and contribute to a positive care environment
  • Advance clinical competence and demonstrate professional communication
  • Incorporate ethical principles in decision-making
  • Engage in lifelong learning and participate in nursing committees and initiatives
