Job Opportunity: RN - Triage Nurse

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 27 weeks


Job Summary

  • Make nursing decisions in uncertain conditions using broad knowledge and recognize life-threatening emergencies.
  • Use systematic, comprehensive patient assessment tools and protocols appropriately.
  • Perform direct patient assessment and evaluation, identifying actual or potential health, safety, or educational needs.
  • Utilize decision-making protocols, algorithms, and guidelines to assess patient needs and prioritize acuity/urgency for medical or crisis intervention.
  • Employ excellent interviewing, active listening, and documentation skills.
  • Promote health prevention and wellness.
  • Develop collaborative care plans with patients and caregivers.
  • Implement nursing interventions based on care plans and protocols.
  • Coordinate nursing care with healthcare team members to meet patient needs and achieve outcomes.
  • Initiate age- and culturally-appropriate measures.
  • Collaborate, consult, or make referrals as appropriate.
  • Respond appropriately to emergent situations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions and modify care plans accordingly.
  • Facilitate continuity of care through interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination of healthcare services.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of clinical RN experience with strong assessment and visualization skills.
  • Proven ability to function at the highest level within scope of practice.
  • Experience in patient education and proactive disease management.
  • Excellent assessment and care coordination skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Proficient keyboarding and computer skills.

Education & Licensure

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current Minnesota RN License required.
  • BLS certification required or must obtain within orientation period.

Prior Travel Experience
