Med Lab Tech II - Travel Contract

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel - Clinical Allied
Contract Length: 4 weeks (with potential extension to 12 weeks)
Shift: 7 nights on / 7 nights off (0.9 FTE)
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Job Summary

• Perform laboratory analyses and quality testing independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.
• Work collaboratively with patients, healthcare professionals, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing procedures, quality control, and proficiency testing to ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate lab results.
• Verify specimen integrity, prioritize workload, evaluate and interpret data, and document actions per policy.
• Assist with evaluation and implementation of new methods, policy/procedure manual upkeep, and inspections.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments, including preventive maintenance and quality control.
• Use Cerner/STAR system for test ordering, result verification, and documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, physicians, nurses, patients, and other departments.
• Follow laboratory and hospital policies, maintain a safe work environment, and participate in mandatory and continuing education.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
• ASCP or NCA certification.
• Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or an Associate's degree that includes prerequisite coursework and clinical training.
• Experience in phlebotomy.
• Proficient in using Cerner Laboratory Information System.
