Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Travel)

Location: Newburgh, Indiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Overtime: Applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Float Requirement:

  • First to float within skillset
  • Possible float to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice
  • Mid-shift float within same campus; cross-campus mid-shift float unlikely but possible
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement:

  • Work three weekends every six weeks
  • Every other holiday
• On Call/Call Back: Not required

Patient Population & Unit Information

• Combination of medical and surgical patients (no heavy cardiac cases)
• Common conditions: confusion, behavioral health, CIWA, CHF, COPD, UTI, cellulitis, sepsis, amputations, decubitus ulcers, general surgeries
• Unit size: 32 beds (increasing to 37 in January 2025)
• Unit strengths: New leadership, strong teamwork, experienced charge nurses
• Teaching hospital environment; may require precepting students and new hires

Required Qualifications

• License: Current active compact RN license
• Certifications: AHA BLS and NIHSS
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • Trauma Level II experience
• Charting: Recent EPIC experience required (checkoff class may be required)
• Skills:

  • IV fluid and antibiotic therapies
  • Strong medical and post-surgical assessment
  • Heparin drips
  • Wound care including wound vacs
  • Basic telemetry

Additional Information

• No local candidates within 40-mile radius accepted
• Scrub color: Navy blue (no competing health system or agency logos)
• Attendance policy: 3 call-ins may result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change)
• GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week
