Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support all patient care areas of the hospital, including Emergency Department and general care units. The role includes providing emergency services for Rapid Response and Code Blue situations, ventilator management, patient assessment, and care for all age groups.


Work Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation
  • May be required to float to other nearby locations with advance notice
  • On-call for low census hours with call-back pay (minimum 2 hours)

Required Qualifications

  • Active Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted if RRT obtained within one year
  • Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience, including pediatric experience
  • NICU experience required for night shift positions
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Required certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP
  • Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Basic respiratory care and critical care
  • Ventilator management (experience with V60 BIPAP, HAMILTON G5 and C1)
  • Patient assessment using Assess and Treat Protocols
  • Documentation in EPIC and use of ISTAT equipment
  • Ability to manage change, work resiliently, and maintain professionalism
  • Support emergency responses including Rapid Response and Code Blue

Additional Information

  • Must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility prior to assignment
  • Dress code: closed-toed shoes, scrubs of any color, no smoking or scents, piercings per policy
  • Flu and COVID vaccination required during flu season or mask must be worn at all times per policy
  • Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except during holidays when unit is closed

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists comfortable with pediatric and critical care, night shifts, and travel assignments.
