Job Opportunity: Nuclear Med Tech

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Nuclear Med Tech to work primarily day shifts (5x8 schedule, 36 hours per week) with no weekend or on-call requirements. Schedule details to be finalized during interview/offer.


Unit Information

  • Department: Nuclear Medicine
  • Number of Beds: Approximately 240
  • Patient Types: Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Room
  • Equipment: Siemens Symbia and Siemens Biograph PET/CT
  • Electronic Medical Record System: Epic

Required Qualifications

  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an acute care setting, specifically hospital-based
  • Certification: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Nuclear (RT-N)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine training program
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) only

Skills & Experience

  • Must have general Nuclear Medicine skills
  • Preferred experience with PET imaging
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule and float between hospital and outpatient center
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle complex situations and work well in a team environment

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols
  • Perform quality control on nuclear medicine cameras and radiopharmaceuticals
  • Safely operate all equipment and follow radiation safety procedures (ALARA principles)
  • Accurately document and enter data into electronic Nuclear Medicine Information System
  • Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and care during procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure optimal patient care
  • Maintain compliance with safety, biohazard, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and staff training as needed
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Manage scheduling and department resources efficiently
  • Perform equipment quality control testing and maintain knowledge of new technology
  • Follow emergency procedures and respond appropriately to patient crises
