Travel RN Opportunity – Operating Room
Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Operating Room (OR)
- Beds: 13 ORs
- Staff: 25 RNs / 29 CSTs
- Shifts & Coverage:
- Monday-Friday:
- 0630-1500: 13 RNs / 13 CSTs (up to 10 rooms)
- 1500-1700: 8 RNs / 8 CSTs (up to 7 rooms)
- 1700-1900: 6 RNs / 5 CSTs (up to 4 rooms)
- 1900-2300: 3 RNs / 2 CSTs (up to 2 rooms)
- 2300-0700: 1 RN / 1 CST (trauma coverage)
- Weekend:
- 0700-0700: 1 RN / 1 CST (trauma coverage)
- Saturday includes an additional call team (0630-1500)
- Trauma Team: 1 RN / 1 CST available during off hours
- Additional: 1 CST for Labor & Delivery call
- Patient Volume: Average 50 hours of surgical time per day (Monday-Friday); weekends vary with Saturday heavier
- EMR System: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of Operating Room experience (higher than the 2 years noted elsewhere)
- Trauma experience required
- Shift and call flexibility required
- Certifications: BLS required
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR certification
- Burn experience
- Robotic surgery experience
- Neuro experience
Typical Procedures Performed
- Burn: wound debridement, skin grafting, dressing changes (high acuity, mostly ICU patients)
- Dental: restoration and oral maxillofacial procedures
- ENT: tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, parathyroidectomy, cochlear implants
- Gastroenterology: EGD, colonoscopy
- General surgery: broad range of procedures
- Gynecology: ablations, vaginal/abdominal hysterectomies
- Neuro: stealth surgery, spinal fusions, discectomy, craniotomy
- Open Heart: CABG, fempop bypass, fistulas
- Ophthalmology: vitrectomy, cataracts, corneal transplant
- Orthopedics: trauma, total joint replacements, sports medicine
- Plastics: breast augmentation/reconstruction
- Psychiatry: electroconvulsive therapy
- Robotics: gynecology, general surgery, urology
- Trauma: damage control resuscitative surgery, neuro, ortho, general
- Urology: cystoscopy, TURB, TURP, stents
