Certified Surgical Technician (CST/ORT) - Travel Position

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

An integral member of the surgical team who supports surgeons during operations by preparing, providing, and caring for instruments and equipment while maintaining a sterile field.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred

Certifications/Licenses

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Surgical Tech certification required

Skills

• Knowledge of care and handling of surgical instruments and equipment
• Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures
• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Experience

• One or more years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in the operating room or instrument care environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens; training on Universal Precautions and Right to Know provided
• Use of protective equipment required and provided
• Heavy physical effort involving standing, walking, and lifting most of the day
• Must be able to speak, hear, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

• Reports to Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services
