Minimum 2 years ICU experience required (hospital setting experience emphasized)
Must have an active Kentucky or Compact nursing license at submission
Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH certification (must be certified annually)

Unit: 10-bed ICU with patient ratios of 2:1 or 3:1
Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Externs
Equipment used: Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, ventilators, glucometer
Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts
Floating: May float to PCU, 3rd floor, or Emergency Department

Required skills: CPap and BiPap management, port access, therapeutic phlebotomy
Preferred advanced skills: chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusion, ventilators
Procedures performed on unit: telemetry monitoring, physician-led paracentesis, BiPap, therapeutic phlebotomy

Dress code: Navy or gray scrubs
The unit uses GroupMe for communication and team support
The unit has a strong culture of teamwork and support, with many travelers extending contracts
Fully supported by a director, manager, and clinical educator
Excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with providers
Recognition programs include Daisy nominations and bi-weekly unit prizes for exceptional teamwork and patient care
