Travel Physical Therapist

Location: Needham Heights, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Patient Care Setting: Home Health
Weekly Hour Guarantee: 32 hours
On Call/Weekend Requirement: Yes
Coverage Area: Boston and surrounding neighborhoods (e.g., West End, South Boston, Jamaica Plain, Back Bay, Roxbury, Beacon Hill, South End)

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional status and physical therapy needs according to CMS documentation requirements.
• Consult with physicians to develop therapy plans of care.
• Provide physical therapy services within the scope of state laws and the established plan of care.
• Observe and report patient responses and condition changes to nurse supervisors and/or physicians.
• Treat patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain maximum functioning using evidence-based techniques.
• Educate healthcare team members, patients, and caregivers about the plan of care, functional limitations, and progress toward goals.
• Visit patients throughout the agency’s service area.
• Complete progress notes for each visit and submit according to policy.
• Complete patient evaluations and develop physical therapy plans of care within state guidelines.
• Report evaluation outcomes, goals, and projected frequency of care to nurse supervisors within 24 hours of evaluation.

Required Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapy license in Massachusetts.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed between visits).
• Bachelor’s degree minimum.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Ability to work independently and onboard quickly.
• Strong patient care skills in home health, especially with post-acute hospitalization and assisted living populations.

Dress Code

• Business casual (no jeans), no specific scrub color required.
