PTA

Overview

• Role: PTA
• Location: Artesia, New Mexico
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Department: Physical Therapy | PTA
• Start date: 12/7 or 12/14
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with lunch closure from 12:00 PM–1:00 PM
• Weekend rotation: 1 every 5, covering inpatient units
• Holiday rotation: May be asked to participate
• Setting: Mixed, primarily hospital-based outpatient PT, with a chance to flex into the inpatient MS-Rehab unit
• Patient volume: 8 to 10 patients per day
• Patient population: Juvenile (typically 5+) through geriatrics
• Dress code: Business casual or solid-colored scrubs
• Orientation: 1–2 shifts with a preceptor

Required Qualifications

• PT State License
• BLS Certification
• 1 year of experience outside of clinicals
• 1 year of outpatient PTA experience
• NM Caregiver background fingerprints completed in New Mexico with results returned before start

Preferred

• Inpatient-only experience is acceptable
• First-time travelers are accepted

Clinical Focus

• Total joints
• Back, shoulder, and foot pain
• Some neuro cases, including TBI, stroke, and Parkinson's

Job Duties

• Implement individualized treatment plans
• Monitor patient progress
• Report progress to PT
• Guide patients through functional exercises and equipment use
• Document patient progress
• Maintain open communication with PT and patient

Additional Notes

• Required modules must be completed before working on the floor
• Module work may be billed up to 6 hours
