Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care to residents to promote comfort and improve their quality of life. This role includes clinical leadership responsibilities over Resident Assistants and requires collaboration within an interdisciplinary care team.


Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and education to subordinate nursing staff (Resident Assistants).
  • Deliver safe, professional nursing care following facility policies, professional standards, and state/federal regulations.
  • Follow individual resident care plans to enhance quality of life.
  • Prevent and reduce negative outcomes through strong assessment skills and accurate, timely administration of medications and orders.
  • Practice the “Choices Philosophy of Care,” promoting dignity and respect for all residents.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety policies, universal precautions, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen standards.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and unsafe equipment; participate in safety education.

  • Shift: Days
  • Hours per day: 12
  • Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

  • Valid LPN/LVN license in Alaska.
  • Minimum of 1 year of LPN/LVN nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in long-term care.
  • Associate's degree.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in long-term care preferred.
  • New graduates must complete an 8-12 month preceptorship at the facility.

Additional Notes

  • Up to 24 hours call-off allowed during the 13-week assignment without penalty.
  • Local placements accepted.
  • Overtime paid after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
