Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Details

Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Med/Tele)
Number of Beds: 24
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 6:1
Patient Types / Common Diagnoses:
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Diabetes
- Pneumonia (PNA)
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
- Medical/Surgical telemetry patients

Certifications & Skills

Required Certifications: BLS
Experience / Must-Have Skills: Great communication and time management
RN Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read telemetry strips (tele monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs read strips)
- Not required to titrate drips

Staffing & Support

Charge Nurse / Supervisors: Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available
Nurse Aides / PCTs: Patient Care Technicians present at a 12:1 ratio
Respiratory Therapy / Equipment: Care for patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen

Scheduling & Shifts

Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
Scheduling: Managed by unit manager; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
Holiday Requirement: Holidays required
Call / Standby: Not required
Floating: Will float to all medical/surgical units
Schedule Pattern: Rotating every other week
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

Orientation & Dress Code

Orientation: Department-specific orientation completed in Kurth Tower (all med/surg tele)
Scrub Color / Dress Code: Navy blue
