Case Types & Specializations

• General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular (GGU)

  • Circulate cases including bowel resections, laparoscopic cases, daVinci Xi cases, urology (open & scope), peripheral vascular, bariatrics, GYN (open and vaginal), c-sections, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
• Orthopedics (ORTHO)

  • Circulate ortho cases including total joints (with or without MAKO robot for knees, hips, shoulders, ankles), arthroscopy, ortho trauma.
  • Also includes c-sections, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, bowel resections.
• Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics

  • Circulate cases such as tracheostomy, ENT (tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy, BMT, FESS), plastics, breast reductions, spine fusions, laminectomy, craniotomy, facial fractures, laryngoscopy/bronchoscopy, neck dissections.
  • Also includes c-sections, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, bowel resections.

Staffing & Roles

• Scrubbing required: No (RNs do not scrub)
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Always a charge RN in the OR
• OR Techs: Present
• Minimum staffing 24/7/365: At least one RN and one Surgical Tech

Shifts & Scheduling

• Primarily day shifts: 07:00 - 15:30, 17:30, or 19:30
• One week of PM shifts (15:00 - 23:30) approximately every 5 weeks
• Night shifts (23:00 - 07:00) possible with experience at the facility
• Shift length options: 8-hour or 10-hour shifts; 12-hour shifts available on subsequent contracts if staffing allows (not guaranteed on first contract)
• Call: 1-2 weeknights per week (end of shift to 07:00)
• Weekend call: Approximately 1 weekend every 5-6 weekends
• Holiday call: At least 1 holiday per year
• Call response times:

  • Call team 1: 30 minutes
  • Call teams 2-4: 45 minutes

Floating

• Required to float to the Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC) across campus

Orientation & Training

• Unit/Department specific orientation provided
• 2-3 days with educator covering basics and computer-based trainings (CBTs)
• 1-2 weeks of case-specific training to learn flow or unfamiliar cases

Dress Code

• Scrub color: Navy blue, provided at no cost via Cintas vending

Additional Notes

• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates must disclose if they have previously worked at this facility; if yes, previous employment must have ended at least 6 months prior to submission
• Scheduling is flexible; may assist during day shift in the Outpatient Surgery Center
• Call includes 1 long call per week (Monday-Thursday) and approximately 1 weekend call every 5-6 weekends
