Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Grayling, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM (Midnight shift)
Schedule: 3 shifts per week, any day of the week
Weekend Coverage: 50% of weekends required
Holiday Coverage: 50% of holidays required
On-Call: No

Job Description

• Provide bedside nursing care on a Medical/Surgical unit with Cardiac Telemetry monitoring.
• Must have experience with cardiac telemetry interpretation.
• Experience with Philips cardiac monitor equipment is a plus.
• Experience with Oracle Health/Powerchart electronic health record (EHR) system is a plus.

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Telemetry nursing experience.
• Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Telemetry experience must be within the last year.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Proof of MMR vaccination or positive titer.
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30); no declinations accepted except approved medical or religious exemptions.
• Negative TB test within last 6 months (preferred: T-spot or QuantiFERON; alternatively, 2-step skin test).
• If TB positive, chest X-ray and TB screening questionnaire required.
• Proof of Varicella vaccination or positive titer (history alone not accepted).
• Fit for duty health statement completed within 1 year of start date.
• Drug screen results within 90 days prior to start.
• Must complete core competency exams including OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
• Skill-specific competencies and self-assessment checklist required.

Documentation & Background Checks

• Submission of professional references: minimum 2 from managers, supervisors, or charge nurses (attestations not accepted).
• Social Security card and verification required.
• Criminal background check within 90 days including 7-year national search, sex offender registry, and FACIS Level 3.
• Employment and education verifications required (minimum 2 employers spanning at least 2 years).
• OIG, OFAC, and National Sex Offender searches within 90 days.
• Completed I-9 attestation.
• Emergency contact form.
• Badge photo (shoulder/headshot with plain background).
• Signed healthcare system agreement to initiate system access.

Dress Code

• Scrubs of any color.
• Closed-toe shoes required.

This position is ideal for an experienced RN with strong Medical/Surgical and Cardiac Telemetry skills seeking a long-term assignment on a midnight shift schedule.
