Job Opportunity: PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Barberton, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Telemetry settings.
• Must have at least 2 years of recent PCU/Telemetry experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records and Phlebotomy within the last 12 months is required.
• No block scheduling or more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Accredited nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Telemetry experience.
• Phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Fit Test for N95 respirators (3M 1870+ N95, Medline Cone Small, 3M 1860 Reg & Small) updated annually.
• Pre-employment physical within one year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • MMR (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if negative; no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B (complete series or titer with boosters if negative; signed declinations accepted).
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if negative; no declinations accepted).
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with no declinations accepted.
• Influenza vaccine required October through April (medical or religious exemptions require approval).
• COVID-19 vaccination strongly encouraged (medical or religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case).
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years recommended.
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
• Criminal background check compliant with FCRA standards, including 7-year search and multiple databases, completed within 90 days of start.
• OIG, EPLS, and education verifications completed within 90 days of start.

Testing and Competency

• Unit-specific competency exam and skills checklist required annually.
• Telemetry and EKG exams with a passing score of 80% or higher, completed within one year of start.
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, and OSHA topics must be completed within 90 days of start and updated annually.

• Interview required prior to assignment.
• Resume must list Epic and Phlebotomy experience.
• RTO (requested time off) is limited to a maximum of 7 days during the first two weeks; exceeding this will result in automatic rejection.
