Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - Operating Room (OR)

Job Description

• Serve as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures.
• Ensure all supplies and equipment are available and functioning for procedures.
• Assemble and confirm sterile instruments correctly.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain accurate counts of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges.
• Maintain and monitor the sterile field, recognizing breaks in technique.
• Set up sterile fields in a timely manner.

Responsibilities Breakdown

• 30%: Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solving related to procedures; verify physician preference cards; ensure accurate patient billing for supplies.
• 30%: Proper use, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and disposables.
• 30%: Maintain sterile environment and monitor sterile field integrity.
• 10%: Timely setup of sterile fields and accurate accounting of all items on sterile fields per policy.

Schedule

• Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM (36 hours per week)
• Call: Approximately 1 night per week on scheduled workdays, plus weekend call about every 5th Saturday/Sunday.
• Call hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (weeknight call begins at 11:30 PM after shift ends).

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of Certified Surgical Tech experience (higher experience requirement confirmed).
• Level 2 Trauma experience required.
• Proficiency in Orthopedics, Vascular, Neurosurgery, General/Gynecology, and Urology required.
• Recent travel work experience is highly preferred (prior travel experience not strictly required but favored).
• Must provide:

  • Work history and skills checklist relevant to Operating Room (updated within 1 year).
  • Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Active NBSTSA Certification.
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered).
