Registered Nurse - Med Surg Tele

Location: Crescent City, California Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 to 19:15 (12 hours per day, 36 hours per week)

Role Overview

• Provides direct nursing care for patients of all ages and developmental stages in assigned areas, using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Manages care of assigned patients and directs ancillary staff.
• Assesses patients' physiological and psychological needs and strengths.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans.
• Performs charge nurse functions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience (2 years)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Onboarding and Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON or T-SPOT within 90 days of start, or two PPDs) or a negative chest X-ray within 1 year of start, if the candidate is a positive responder
• Immunity documentation for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (titer or vaccination records)
• Tdap within 10 years of start
• Hepatitis B vaccine series or signed declination
• Annual seasonal flu vaccination or documentation, required during flu season (November 1 to April 30)
• Fit test for N95 respirator, renewed annually
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
• Color vision exam, in person, if applicable
• Signed facility documents, including the Standards of Business Conduct, general regulatory orientation, and vendor training

Background and Employment History

• 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including education verification of the highest level achieved
• Sex offender registry search, and federal and state exclusion database checks
• Employment application with a full 7 years of work history and no gaps
• Work history verification for up to 7 years, with gaps over 30 days explained
• Two professional references (agency requirement)
