Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist specializing in Pediatrics. This is a travel contract position requiring flexibility, including floating to different units as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT).
  • Experience: Prefer close to 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy.
  • References: Must provide 2 supervisory or manager references (charge nurses count as only 1 reference). Peer references are not acceptable.
  • Floating: Required for most positions.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year search covering all counties lived or worked. International background check required if applicable.
  • Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
  • Education Verification: Verification of highest degree through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start.
  • State License Verification: Must be verified within 30 days of start.
  • References: Two professional references required.
  • Resume/Application: Copy required.
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NBRC Certification (required for RRTs)

Note: Certifications must be current, issued by the American Heart Association or equivalent, and must match the legal name on license and other documents. Screenshots or photos are not acceptable.


Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Must be free of communicable diseases; physical exam documentation required within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols for positive results)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination required
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, proof of vaccination series, or positive titer required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31) unless approved medical/religious exemption is on file
  • Fit Testing: N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually. Candidates with beards have options for PAPR/CAPR.

Additional Notes

  • Candidate's legal name must match all documentation (license, certifications, IDs).
  • Address on driver's license must match the address on the RRT license.
  • Floating to different units is expected.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • All compliance documents must be completed and uploaded prior to or within specified timeframes after start.
  • Candidates with approved vaccine exemptions must comply with mask-wearing policies during flu season.
