Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: 36/36 (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• No on-call duties
• Floating to different units required
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts may be assigned based on census needs
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Licensure

• Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Tennessee

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online compliance-based learning)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required

Key Certifications (as applicable)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider or RQI accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider or RQI accepted
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – if required by unit
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for ER, can be pending at start but preferred before starting
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – highly preferred for ER candidates

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respirator medical evaluation and clearance forms required within 48 hours of contract signing
• Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility policy
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season

Additional Notes

• Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital service area
• Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing (ID photo standards apply)
• Must review and comply with facility dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies
• Candidate must complete various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments related to safety, exposure, and policies
