Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Specialty: Hospice Registered Nurse
• Schedule: On Call position with a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation

  • On Call for 24 hours during the first 7 days, then off the next 7 days
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Load: Approximately 5-7 patients per day (geriatric, end-of-life care)
• EMR System: Experience with HCHB required
• First Time Travelers: Not accepted
• Territory: Up to a 60-mile radius from the office hub
• Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; jeans are not allowed
• Equipment Provided: iPad provided; cell phone not allowed
• Mileage: Reimbursed at IRS standard rate
• Flexibility: Traveler expected to be flexible with territory coverage
• Documentation: Timely documentation and communication required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 1 year of hospice nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) electronic medical records system
• Prior travel contract experience required; first-time travelers not accepted

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Background checks including SSN trace, county searches for last 7 years, FACIS Level 1, nationwide sex offender, motor vehicle records, education and work history verification
• State-specific background checks as applicable
• Fingerprinting as required by state regulations
• Education verification of highest degree related to profession
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Medication and competency exams as applicable
• Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment (updated annually)
• Facility-specific documents including acceptable use policy and flu/COVID vaccination or declination forms
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination form during flu season
  • COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination

Additional Requirements

• Proof of current auto insurance if job responsibilities include driving
• 7 years of verifiable work history with no gaps
• Professional references as required (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care)

• Locals are accepted and paid at travel rates
• No cell phone use allowed during shifts
• Scrubs only, no jeans permitted

This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable with on-call scheduling and flexible territory coverage.
