Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Position Details
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry
- Schedule: 8-week blocked rotating days and nights
- Weekend Requirements: Minimum 4 weekend shifts plus 4 Monday or Friday shifts based on unit needs
- Floating Units: PCU / Stepdown / IMCU
- On-Call: Yes
- Blocked Scheduling: Not open to blocked scheduling
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles, with adjusted rate)
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations/vaccinations including:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug test (including THC) within 30 days of start
- Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and sanction lists within 90 days of start
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- Competency exams and unit-specific training as required
- Setup of a guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Competency checklists must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file
This position is ideal for RNs with cardiac telemetry experience seeking a travel contract opportunity with rotating shifts and weekend requirements in North Carolina. First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
