Travel/Contract Registered Nurse – MICU
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) – 20 bed critical care unit
- Care for critically ill patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, acute/chronic kidney failure, liver failure, overdoses, septic shock
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3 (days and nights)
- Frequent floating required within scope to various units including Bellevue campus and multiple other hospital units
Schedule & Work Requirements
- 36 or 48-hour shift options available
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday
- Weekend nights: Friday night and Saturday night
- Travelers must work 2/3 major holidays
- RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: 6/11/26 - 6/22/26 due to College World Series
- Up to two weeks of RTO permitted, with manager discretion for additional requests
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission; booking six weeks out if not)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital (higher experience requirement applies)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip medication experience required on all floors
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Prior travel experience NOT explicitly required
Additional Requirements
- Must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Background check, drug screen, and various health and competency verifications required prior to start
- Must have current immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
- Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
- Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Annual skills checklist required
- Two professional references from work within past 2 years required

- Parking permits available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates
