Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Location: Lansing, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse for a Level 1 Trauma Center with additional Stroke, Heart, and Pediatric Emergency services. The unit currently experiences high patient-to-nurse ratios (typically 1:5-6, potentially up to 1:8 during busy times and holidays).


Schedule & Work Details

  • Weekend shifts required: 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week schedule; may work 1 to all 3 weekend days
  • Floating to Pediatrics possible
  • On-call: No

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Trauma experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic charting system

Additional Information

  • High patient ratios require adaptability and strong clinical skills
  • Modules and orientation completed onsite; some modules are not billable and require margin for 5 hours
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start, noting latex sensitivity
  • Fit mask OSHA respirator form must be completed prior to start
  • Required immunizations and health screenings include: Tdap, TB test or questionnaire, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccination (or declination), and 10-panel drug screen
  • Background checks and verifications required, including education and employment history
  • References: 2 from previous employers required
