Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Details
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Unit: Renal Medical Surgical
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Ratio / Census: 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio; 49 rooms with average daily census of 48
- Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Holiday Work:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
- Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Day (counts as one), New Year’s Eve/Day (counts as one)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and others as specified
- Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and Testing:
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or proof of positive with negative chest x-ray within 6 months
- TB Questionnaire (required annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
- Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly recommended but not required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable; cannot start with results pending
Orientation and Onboarding
- Orientation Hours: Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Compliance: Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; failure to comply results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Offer Review: Manager has 48 hours post-offer to review candidate profile for fit

- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Floating within facility as needed
- No call requirements
- Must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing, comfortable working night shifts, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
